Meredith Baylis

Support Coordination

Is a Mother, Carer, Community Leader, Facilitator and Information Sharer and is proud to live and work on the lands of Nyangbul Country, part of Bundjalung Nation. Local Aboriginal murals depict the story of the Three brothers who first travelled here by sea – Yarbirri, Mamoon and Burrung who were the ancestral founders of the Bundjalung Nation, according to oral Traditions. One brother went south, another west and the third brother north. In doing so the three brothers founded the tribal groups of the Bundjalung Nation.
Mythology says the ‘Dirawong’, an unseen spiritual creature also known as the goanna spirit, is one of the Creator Beings of the Bundjalung, that protects, guards, battles the Rainbow Snake, and helps the people.
