Support Coordination
Cathy Erbacher – Support Coordinator Level 2 &3
Bachelor of Social Science in Human Services
I have been fortunate to gain collective wisdom from over 30 years dedicated to working with people with disability and their families. I have done it with passion and tenacity. I left stable government employment to continue to work where my heart is.
Roles varied, and included professional and specialist case management, training (health and wellbeing; behaviour management and support), behaviour support, and management/ team leader. The behaviour support role was integral to the deinstitutionalisation movement of that time. I enjoyed the challenge of limited resources as it required thinking outside of the box to create innovative solutions. Prior to these roles with Disability Services, I had a role in the non-government sector focussed on community inclusion.
In the new world of NDIS, I have worked as a Support Coordinator since mid-2020. Participants’ locations vary from the Sunshine Coast through to Moreton Bay and Brisbane and a Participant who was transient for about a year. This is enabled by my resourcefulness in seeking out services and supports that match Participants’ needs and choices.
I am a lifelong learner both in my work life and personal life and take any opportunities that I can to grow and develop. Much of the learning relates to disability of all types and trauma, as well as holistic health and healing.
For work/life balance, I enjoy the simple treasures freely available to me – the blossoming of a flower during a walk in nature, the company of family and friends, op shop finds with my young daughter, and reading real actual books.
