The May Gathering of the Jeder Institute was the theme: Creating a Healthy Workspace; looking after Self and each other! What might self-care look like to create a healthier organisational culture?
We started the Gathering with an Acknowledgement of Country!
Day One
The Core Team for this Gathering was Jasmine, Lisa, Yvonne, Vic, Dee, Mic and Chontelle! The day started with an overview of the Flow for Day One which was based on themes of self-care and updates on new roles before a check-in of all Members!
Members were then invited into discussions in breakout rooms about what type of self care discussions they felt they needed, or would like to have, during the Gathering before being joined by Chris from APACMS for an IT update and a Q&A member session!
The Core Team shared the self care strategies available to members and discussed the potential opportunities for people to discover what works for them and Rob took us through a self-care session before taking another screenshot and having a break for lunch!
After lunch, the Governance Jedi (Mic, Dee, Jason) shared an update and gave an overview on the organisations strategic operations and new roles before sharing an emergent theory, Crinkle Crankle Wall, based on the principles of permaculture which encourages people to pay attention to the “edges”.
After some small discussion groups, all members were asked to prep for a screenshot before checking out for the day! Everyone was invited to share Iftar with Lisa and her family after sunset!
Day Two
Day Two commenced with an Acknowledgement of Country and an overview of the day before checking in and getting prepared for the day!
An overview was given from the Jedi Pod, which is a group of Leads from each Jedi, about their “Get Shit Done Day” and the key themes that emerged from the planning and development day. An invitation was offered to all members to engage with various Jedis and consider what participation and contribution would look like when offering their skills, abilities, and passions!
Members were sent to breakout rooms to discuss further contribution potential and what this might mean alongside self-care and looking after each other after reviewing the November Gatherings actions! .
A lunchtime break was called after a screenshot and everybody had a good pause before coming back for an afternoon of Open Space and Rapid Discussion Round action!
After lunch, an Open Space Marketplace was opened for members to post their ideas and strategies about organisational self-care! Five topics were put up and members followed their energy and passion into the hosted discussions in breakout rooms!
