The music in you
“There’s a musician and an artist in all of us.” – AJ
Jeder Institute members Aleks Jovanovic and Mark have set out to explore the power of music by looking for people who are interested in adding more music and creativity to their lives. On their journey to create new communities they have discovered a few intriguing clues about why sound and image creation can fulfill a missing void in our lives.
Introduction
At a recent Jeder organisational gathering in November and shortly after an evening drumming session had concluded, Mark and Aleks started a conversation about the powers of music and art creation. Their belief in music as a ‘secret’ therapeutic medium fused so well that it didn’t take very long for the two of them to agree to meet and discuss the design of an accessible music program that has a strong sense of community and belonging by all that decide to join them:
“Music is a therapy. It is a communication far more powerful than words, far more immediate, far more efficient” – Yehudi Menuhin.
Aleks and Mark have been inspired by many different groups and individuals. These inspirations have led to their musical discoveries. Aleks and Mark aim to connect and build relationships with individuals and groups, to inspire and continue to be inspired.
Some initial ideas for programs include:
- Creating instruments (for all)
- Emotional regulation and Communication with music
- Vibro-Acoustic Therapy
- Music Therapy
- Song writing
- Performance (Sound, vision and body)
- Establishing a long-term community in Sydney.
Culture and style

Both Mark and Aleks contribute to the Jeder Institute’s ground-breaking, dynamic environment which aims to always bring people together to realise their full potential and build on their existing networks and community strengths!

What next?
Now: Mark and Aleks are developing an Intention statement which will tie into our future mission(s) and vision(s).
December 2019: An invitation to connect will be sent to a broad network of Participants, Citizens, Providers and Supporters.
January 2019: Facilitation of initial gatherings in Sydney.
February 2019 and onwards: Lots of opportunities for all people to engage with our community.
